Collection: John Rattenbury

John lives in Yorkshire and creates a range of cold cast bronze sculptures from his studio.

Cold cast bronze is a technique involving blending bronze powder with polyester resin to produce a material which is applied to the interior of the silicone mould (which was produced from the original sculpture).

Subsequent applications of this resin will produce a shell into which an armature (wire frame) can be constructed. It is then rubbed back to reveal the surface and this can then be patinated (coloured) using a variety of chemicals, waxes and stains.

John finds his inspiration walking in the Yorkshire Dales and amid the cultural and architectural history of nearby towns and cities.
